Today begins the first day of my new life-- at least for the next year. Since January I have been mulling over the decision of what to do with my life and last month I decided to be a stay-at-home mom for the next year (or possibly longer, if I can continue to manage it financially).
My job has been very demanding, particularly over the last six months. I considered cutting back (which I didn't think would actually work out-- kind of like going back to just holding hands after you've kissed) and then considered getting a new job (thinking I could find one that really would be part time). But in the end I felt very good about staying at home and living off of the little income I get from social security (I'm such a hypocrite).
We are all excited about this new life! It's going to be a good change for us. These last five years have been hard and stressful. It will be a nice change of pace and will benefit the kids greatly in their education. I am excited to teach Emeline to read and Joseph has a lot of interests that we are going to tackle this year. Homeschool has been a lot of fun for us already, but now that it can be my only focus, I am certain we will love it even more!
So I expect the next year to be one of the best I've had. I'll keep you posted on all of our adventures!
If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.

Now you need to change your 'about me'!!!
So happy for you. So glad we could visit last week . . . hope to run into you at Target again :)
Good point about my profile... thanks for the reminder! I enjoyed visiting with you too! Glad you saw me...
I think you definitely deserve a break. The kids will love having the less-stressed mom. I know how stressful it is to work and be a mom. I can only imagine what it has been like for you to do it ALL!
Sounds awesome! I think it will be a great thing for you & your kids!! ;o)
That sounds like a fantastic plan, Laney! You and your kids deserve the time together! Enjoy!!!
Good for you Laney! Enjoy your time together...I know you will :)
Hooray! I am so excited for you (and I'm sure your kids are beyond excited!) And I think they are lucky to have you home schooling them--what a great education they'll get!
