I have a pretty amazing mom. She showed up last week around 10 pm one night and took care of my kids while I barely left work for three days. About 2 weeks before, I had complained to my sister about how I was sick and my house was a wreck and I needed to grocery shop and didn't have time to take care of any of it. That night my mom called me and said she would come live with me for the month while I finish up the event I am assisting with. At first I told her not to worry about me-- mainly because I know very well that I have completely chosen to live this way and that it is my responsibility to carry the load. I told her I was under more control than when I had talked to Lisa-- my babysitter had cleaned my house, and I had gone grocery shopping, and had my laundry mostly under control. I also explained that my life is insane and that she would likely be exhausted living with me. She still insisted that she would love to come and help. I knew it would be helpful to have her here and that the kids would enjoy her. So we made arrangements and her timing was impeccable. I am not sure how the kids and I would have survived last week without her. We certainly wouldn't have fared as well as we did.
Not only has she watched the kids, but she has taken them to lunch and shopping and to the park. They've gone on hikes and watched movies. She washed all my laundry and keeps the house in order.
I know we would likely survive without her, but we will be a lot happier with her here. Thanks, Mom for your thoughtful, gentle ways. We love you!!
If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.
